Makes Significant Entry into Global Banknote Printing Ink Market with KOMSCO

-      Recognized with ‘Win-Win Honors’ by the South Korean Government

KMI in collaboration with KOMSCO, has successfully developed banknote printing ink after years of joint research and development. They began their full-scale entry into the global banknote printing ink market three years ago. As a result of their achievements, KMI and KOMSCO were selected for the 2024 'Win-Win Honors' by the South Korean government on August 13th.

The 'Win-Win Honors' program highlights excellent cases of mutually beneficial partnerships between public institutions and private companies, aimed at identifying and promoting models of cooperative growth. The South Korean government introduced this program last year to foster and expand successful collaborations between public enterprises and private businesses.

KMI and KOMSCO have jointly developed special security ink technology for overseas mints. KMI has established a manufacturing and quality control system capable of mass production, allowing them to develop and produce competitive K-special security ink, with active collaboration in both production and export.

The global market for special security ink for banknote printing has traditionally been dominated by the multinational company based in Switzerland, due to high technological and commercial entry barriers. However, KMI and KOMSCO have achieved notable export performance in this market and are expected to continue diversifying their export destinations and increasing their market share.
